Originally from South Louisiana, Brenda has been a native of Murfreesboro for over twenty years. Brenda founded Dance Works in 1997 with a vision of creating a new and positive approach to the art of dance. Under her direction, Dance Works has grown into Rutherford County’s largest and most prestigious dance studio. With over 25 years of dance education, Brenda has studied with highly recognized dance schools such as DeFrances Academy of Dance in Louisiana, Nashville Ballet and especially with Cathy’s Dance Studio in Nashville. On a dance scholarship, Brenda attended Oklahoma City University where was a member of the American Spirit Dance Company. She received her teaching certification through Southern Association of Dance Masters. Brenda returned to Murfreesboro and received her degree in Mass Communications from MTSU with a dance minor. Brenda is best recognized for her unique jazz and lyrical choreography which has won numerous awards at both regional and national competitions. Her other choreography credits include work with the Arts Center of Cannon County for Footloose and Children of Eden. Her choreography credits with Dance Works nationally award-winning competition groups, The RUBIES, EMERALDS, SAPPHIRES, AND DIAMONDS are her proudest accomplishments. Brenda’s love for dance and driving commitment to the education of her students is evident through the enormous growth of Dance Works over the past 21 years.
